Similar to the dining room in our Spring Lane project, our clients wanted neutral, transitional style furnishings with a dash of coastal for their family room. This space was also more industrial feeling than the aesthetic they were after. Changing out the fireplace tile was off the table for now, so we set our sights on swapping out the huge 10' industrial fan that hung in the middle of the room. We selected a beautiful brass chandelier that highlights the massive ceilings and add warmth to the space. We also added two woven poufs in front of the fireplace to warm up the space with texture, while also providing additional seating.
This family room is the center of the great room, and it's one of the main hang out places in the home. We selected two beautiful white oak consoles to flank the fireplace that provide ample toy storage so that everything can be easily tucked away. We also added to large lidded baskets to the sofa console for additional toy storage.
We selected a large rectangular white oak coffee table to give the kids plenty of surface area to draw or play. And because our clients really wanted light colored upholstery, we selected performance fabrics for the large sectional and side chair that can stand up to kids and pets.
The woven textures, brass tones, light wood, neutral upholstery and personal touches combine to create the transitional coastal family room our clients were after. We love how the space is beautiful while also being a casual, practical room room that this young family can play in.
